Email integration explained
Let's say you want to send reminders using the email address accounts.receivable@mycompany.com.
Email messages from iController will be sent from our email server, with the 'from' address accounts.receivable@mycompany.com.
Email messages from iController will be sent from our email server, with the 'from' address accounts.receivable@mycompany.com.
SPF record
To prevent these emails to be detected as spam, your IT department has to add an SPF record to the mycompany.com email server. A correct SPF record allows a third party like iController to send email messages in someone else's name.
Forwarding emails
When the customer successfully received the email, hopefully, they reply. The reply message is sent to accounts.receivable@mycompany.com, so will obviously be picked up by your own email server.
To get these messages into iController, we would like you to set-up an automatic forward rule on accounts.receivable@mycompany.com. iController provides an email address to which the email messages could be forwarded to.
We advise our customers to not discard the mails on their server, this to improve the trackability.
Result
The above results in:
- iController sending emails in your companies name
- Your email server forwarding all email messages initially sent to accounts.receivable@mycompany.com to an iController email address.
Like that the circle is complete without an integration directly with your companies email server.
